Biographical note
Early photographs of founder members and leading European midwives from the late 19th century and 1930s, including the first ICM President, Miss Nora Deane, also President of the Royal College of Midwives. Photographs from 1954-1957 show early ICM Executive Committee meetings. Photographs from ICM Congresses, 1954, 1960, 1963, 1966, 1969, 1972 and 1978. Other photographs are undated; where possible a date has been estimated.
