Description

Douzhen dinglun (Definitive Treatise on Pox Diseases) by Zhu Chunxia (Qing period, 1644-1911) is a paediatric text in three volumes. It deals mainly with different types of pox rashes, prevention and prophylaxis, prescriptions and the use and preparation of drugs. This illustration showing the locations for cowpox inoculation comes from a woodblock edition of 1888 (14th year of the Guangxu reign period of the Qing dynasty).
