Autograph letters of John Davy, including:

a single letter to Michael Faraday, relative to the collection of material, for use in his biography of Sir Humphry Davy (no.1);

a single letter to John George Children, concerning the return of his papers, John Davy, "Remarks on [certain statements] of Mr Faraday, [contained in the] fourth and fifth series of his experimental researches [in electricity], and John Davy "On the temperature of some fishes of the genus hunnus" [papers not present], encloses an advertisement fragment relative to John Davy "Physiological and anatomical researches" (no.2);

and a letter to "Dr Murray" - possibly Sir James Murray - concerning a request to review the first nine chapters of a manuscript [manuscript not enclosed] (no. 4).

Acquisition note

Purchased from various sources, chiefly French, 1933-1935. The majority were brought from Desgranges, Paris, 1935 (acc.69099), with one exception which was purchased from Sotheby's, London, 1933 (acc.66163).
