Biographical note

This Commission was formally constituted in 1990, with planning for its development beginning in 1989. It evolved from WONIEP (Workshop on neurotransmitters in epilepsy) into an advisory committee of the ILAE on the neurobiology of epilepsy. Its charges were to advise the ILAE on advances in neurobiology in epilepsy, to orgnaise neurobiology workshops and publish the results, and to promote the integration of advances of neurobiology in epilepsy research. The workshops organised by the Commission changed their name to WONOEP (Worshop on the neurobiology of epilepsy). the continued organisation of such workshops was a major task of the commission and the membership of the commission and organising committee of the workshops were the same people.
