Copy 1 Note: 'Directions concerning bleeding' on p. [213]-216'. Catalogue of books printed for T. Astley (6 l.) at end. For evidence for Pringle's authorship and discussion of original MS. in Royal Archives, Windsor, see C. Gordon, Pharm. Historian, vol. xix, no. iv, p. 5-12, 1989. Theobald's version was first published in 1747. In this ed. his name appears in prelims. but not on t.p. Royal Society of Medicine has another issue of the same date with different typesetting of first four prelim. leaves: t.p. has 'By John Theobald, M.D.' and imprint 'Printed for the editor, and sold by R. Baldwin ... and R. Griffiths'.
