Description

A film of a screening programme in the rural communities of the Vale of Glamorgan in South Wales. This research followed the work the unit carried out on the incidence of tuberculosis and lung disease in 1951 and 1953 with the mining communities of the Rhondda Fach. There are shots of the TB detection x-ray van around the valleys and the screening programme in progress.

Condition of the film is fair with the colour a little faded and some surface scatching.
1 of 121 clinical cine films (1950s-80s) donated to the Wellcome Library by the former University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff University in 2013. The majority of the films were created by the college as part of their teaching activities with most dating from between 1950-80. There are a few earlier examples of films from elsewhere from the 1930s which were in distribution and were collected by the university.
