Organisational papers of the Association of Child Psychotherapists, including early papers from ACP’s beginnings in the 1940s, through to more recent records in the 2010s. Papers document the main activities and functions of the organisation, and include Executive Committee, Training Council and General Committee minutes and papers, as well as correspondence and papers from ACP Chairs, training papers, regional papers, and other related documentation. Also includes papers relating to the child psychotherapy profession, membership of ACP, the reorganisation of the NHS, and professional ethics. Includes a run of the Journal of Child Psychotherapy and related paperwork, as well as ACP Bulletins and other publications from ACP and Child Psychotherapy Trust.

Biographical note

The Association of Child Psychotherapy (ACP) was founded in 1949 and has c.1000 members working in the UK and abroad. It is the main professional body for Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists in the UK and an accredited register of the Professional Standards Authority (PSA), responsible for regulating the training and practice standards of child psychotherapy across the public and private sector. The ACP aims to improve the mental health of infants, children, young people and families, ensure professional standards of care and training within Child Psychotherapy, and support and promote the field of psychotherapy.
