Description
Physica generalis seu commentatus in libros Aristotelis de principiis, causis, affectionibus corporis naturalis generatim sumpti. Philosophia Universi [De coelo et mundo]. Notes of lectures written by J. B. Coppieters, 'in Collegio Coenobii Aquicintini' at Douai. Extra-illustrated with an engraved frontispiece of 'Phyisca', two engraved historiated title-pages with blank centre panels, 32 engraved plates or diagrams, figures and illustrations of scientific instruments, etc.: also by engraved portraits of Malebranche, Aristoteles, Anaxagoras, Descartes, Calvin, St. Ambrose, St. Gregory, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, Gassendi, St. Thomas Aquinas, Lactantius, Quintillian, Duns Scotus, Virgil, Epicurus, Democritus, Adam, Plutarch, Heraclitus, Empedocles, Pasquier Quesnel [1634-1719], and Copernicus. These lectures were given at the Collège St. Sauveur d'Anchin, a former Benedictine Monastery, founded in 1079, and incorporated into Douai University at its foundation in 1562. The writer's name is found on p. 74 and p. 216. Produced in Douai.
