Notes

Vincent Creelan is from Belfast, Northern Ireland. He is a retired policemen and before that was a research scientist. He worked as a policeman during The Troubles and he explains some of the difficult experiences he had during this period. He talked about how his life was split in two. The first part in which he married a woman and had a son. The second part in which he came out as a gay man. He discusses how his outlook on life has changed since he has come out and he has become a more honest, happy person. He set up a Gay society for the police force and he talked about prejudices and reactions. Since he retired he has worked for Rainbow which is a Gay rights movement. He had a civil ceremony with his partner of 8 years and they are currently doing up their Victorian House. He loves being a Father and discusses what it means to him. He loves poetry and will be spending his time on the plinth talking about relationships, safe sex, his love for his partner and reading poetry.
