Biographical note
Co-ord was set up in March 1976, with the FPA as one of the 16 founder organisations, when some MPs were opposed in principle to the 1967 Abortion Act and were intent on making it more restrictive.
Co-ord had no elected officers, so the member organisations took it in turn to chair meetings which were held every four to six weeks.
A monthly newsletter, Co-ord Inform, was distributed to all member organisations. This was later replaced by Abortion Review which was launched in November 1981.
