The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "A hand-painted postcard, with a poignant and affectionate personal message. 'Jack' gazes wistfully at the camera from under the turned-back brim of a stylish hat. He is beautifully made-up and coiffed, and could easily pass as a woman."
