The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "An unidentified dancer, 'David' poses in costume on a card dedicated '..always.. To Leo '. Although 'David' remains unidentified, the pose, the make-up, the nudity, and the inscription all contribute to the overall impression that he is gay to a later viewer".
