About this work

Description

The Science Museum, lottery money and the new Wellcome Wing. This is the most important project undertaken in its 150 years. Professor John Durant, Assistant Director of the Science Museum, talks about the site and the planning of the building. The new premises should be ready by the year 2000. Apart from the National Lottery, the Wellcome Trust is the one major source of funding for the project. Another millenium project called Bristol 2000 has acquired a large site in Bristol for its Science World, an interactive science centre, and appointed Dr Cathy Sykes as the first research scientist to work on the project. The Centre is scheduled to open in the autumn of 1999.
