MRC Sub-Committee on Clinical Pharmacology

Minutes of the MRC Sub-Committee on Clinical Pharmacology, on which Paton served as a member. The terms of reference of the Sub-Committee were "to advise the Council on the etablishment of a research unit in clinical pharmacology, having regard in particular to the most appropriate location and environment for such a unit, the scope of the research programme and the facilities required, and the identification of a suitable director, whether on a whole-time or honorary basis." The Sub-Committee first met on 4 November, 1969. The file contains expressions of interest from numerous medical schools and university departments. Minutes to the 3rd Meeting (24 March, 1970) record the recommendation that "an MRC Unit in Clinical Pharmacology should be established at the Oxford University Medical School."
