Correspondence relating to claim that at the Law Society AGM 10 Jul 1980 the Chairman of the Association of Lawyers in Defence of the Unborn moved a motion to urge the DPP to bring criminal proceedings whenever there are grounds for supposing that there has been a breach of the 1967 Abortion Act and that the subject be brought before a committee of the Law Society. Memo from Joanna Chambers to Co-ord lawyers group urging them to do all they can to prevent such a committee being set up, copy of letter to the Law Society from a lawyer against the committee (saying it is not the LS's place have a 'policy' on a matter which is up to individual opinion. The Law Society shirty responses insisting that no such sub-committee was being set up or proposed to be set up.
