Description
Presents the basic principles underlying active, passive and transferred immunity in man and animals, and explains the production and modus operandi of various types of vaccines and antisera. Topics discussed include the acquisition of natural and artificial immunity, the phenomenon of primary and secondary stimuli in establishing active immunity, transferred immunity in new-born children and animals, toxoids and killed bacterial vaccines, and living attenuated and killed virus vaccines.
