Biographical note

The MAP Foundation was established by Michele Angelo Petrone in 2002 to help people living with cancer by promoting expression, communication and understanding of the complex issues of serious illness and dying. Much of Petrone's conference and education work was carried out as part of MAP Foundation and the Foundation continued Petrone's work after his death in 2007. They provided arts-based workshops, talks and lectures, and loan Petrone's artwork for exhibit. The Foundation also engaged with research institutions and policy makers to improve the patient experience for those living with life-threatening conditions. In 2016 MAP Foundation merged with ONCA, a charity and gallery that supports artists and audiences to engage with environmental and social challenges.
