Alnus glutinosa (Common Alder)

Slim leafless tree, close up of hanging yellow brown catkins. See N0021924 also. Has been used to increase milk production in breast feeding and reduce fevers. Its wood remains very hard under water and used to make sluices and pumps. Its sticky branches used in country districts instead of fly papers.
