    De Fontaine Moreaus Cicatrising Preparation. time agree with, and no others, from time to time and at all times there¬ after during the term therein expressed, should and lawfully might make, use, exercise, and vend, within the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, the Channel Islands, and Isle of Man, an Invention for A New 5 Cicatrising Preparation, communicated to me from a foreigner residing abroad, upon the condition (amongst others) that I, the said Peter Armand le Comte de Fontaine Moreau, by an instrument in writing under my hand and seal, should particularly describe and ascertain the nature of the said Invention, and in what manner the same was to be performed, and cause the same to be filed 10 in the Great Seal Patent Office within six calendar months next and imme¬ diately after the date of the said Letters Patent. NOW KNOW YE, that I, the said Peter Armand le Comte de Fontaine Moreau, do hereby declare the nature of the said Invention, and in what manner the same is to be performed, to be particularly described and ascer- 15 tained in and by the following statement thereof, that is to say:— The Invention consists in the mode of employing the following substances for the production of a cicatrising or healing preparation :— Solanum nigrum (morelle) - - five ounces. Balsamina impatiens - four „ 20 Thymselea (daphne) - - eight „ Solanum scanden - - four „ Symphitum (officinalis) - four „ Flower and seed of the hypericum - sixteen „ Sedum minus - - sixteen „ 25 Flour of sulphur ... - eight „ Venetian turpentine - - ten „ Saffron - - half an ounce. Wine - - two and half quarts. Olive oil - - six and half pounds. 30 The plants are first left to infuse in the wine during about twenty- hours, and the whole is then submitted to ebullition during about six hours in a suitable matrass on a sand bath, and afterwards passed through a sieve and pressed. The clear liquid thus obtained is mixed with the oil, put into the I. matrass, and submitted to violent ebullition on the sand bath during ten hours. 35 After this operation the turpentine, saffron, and sulphur are added and well mixed with a portion of the liquid taken from the matrass, into which the whole is then placed and allowed to simmer on the sand bath for about twelve to fourteen hours.
