    [33 | apt to caufe a Total Suppreffion of Urine, a Confequence of which is frequently a Collection of Matter in the Perinzaum, that generally leaves a Fiftula behind it. On which account no Accident of This Clafs merits our Confideration and Regard more, nor admits of an Eafier or more Certain Cure, if Early attended to. But, fhould it be of any Long Duration, it turns out Obftinate, and is not Remedied without Much Pains and Patience. The Removal of it confifts in Paffing a Small Candle every or every other day, Rubbed with Oil, Gently and without Force up the Urethra, till it reaches beyond the Places Affected ; which muft be Suffered to Remain in the Paffage Half an Hour for the Firft two or three Times. After _which it will be Proper to Lett Remain in the Urethra Three or Four Hours, pro- bring on an Inflammation, Bleeding will be Requifite, and fome Gentle Phyfick ; and the Ufe of the Candle muft be Omit- ted for the prefent. _ When Difficulties attend the Paffing of This Candle, it will be Proper to Anoint the Part the Whole Length of the Urethra with Mercurial Ointment, and to Recur to Bleeding, Mild csi and the C5 Warm
