Notes

Peter Davies is from Bridgend in South Wales. He is a Quaker and is going to hold a Quaker meeting while on the plinth, friends from Bridgend will be participating along with London Quakers. He wanted to show the public what the Quaker religion is like. There will be people giving out leaflets and five poles joined at the top with the five Quaker testimonies on the ground. His meeting is a bilingual English and Welsh meeting. He has been a Quaker for over 20 years and has a core belief of God being in everyone. He is doing the project partly for himself and partly for Quakers. Being a Quaker is the core in his life. He describes himself as fairly laid back with a wide range of interests and friends. He considers friends and family very important. He can't wait to retire; he is an accountant for a careers guidance company; which is particularly important at the moment because there have been a lot of redundancies and few job opportunities. He discusses unemployment in Wales. He is originally from Cross Hands, his parents were teachers and he grew up in a close community. He studied economics at Aberystwyth and then worked abroad and in London; he settled in Bridgend 30 years ago. Family, the Quaker community and his sons' lack of employment are important to him.
