About this work
Description
Cervical dysplasia
This is a high power view of squamous mucosa of the cervix, with mild abnormalities related to human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. The basal layer has slightly enlarged nuclei and in the upper layers the nuclei are irregular with surrounding vacuolation. The latter change indicates mild koilocytosis due to HPV infection. These mild epithelial changes relate to cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) grade I. H&E stain.
