Description

In the text Lavater points out the dissimilarities in form among these faces, which are supposed to represent the same man. The last three he criticises for having "eyes [which] see not". He suggests that the left-most design is the most accurate (although we are not told who the sitter is), concluding that this position is the most reliable for the accurate rendering of formal physiognomy
