Biographical note

Sir Henry Halford, 1st Baronet, physician in Leicester. Son of Dr. James Vaughan. Educated at Christ Church, Oxford, B.A. 1788, M.D. 1791. Physician at Middlesex Hospital 1793-1800. F.R.C.P. 1794. Made a Baronet in 1809. President of the College of Physicians, 1820-1844. Attended George IV, William IV and Queen Victoria.
