He is seated on a lotus which is carried by the lion. The lion is attached to a leash held by a groom, and is clothed with an ornate fabric kept in place by a roller. The lotus held in his left hand supports a book, the Prajnaparamita Sutra (the Perfection of wisdom sutra)
