Paul Anton Marie Hubert Wolff Metternich zur Gracht (1853-1934), German diplomat: ambassador in London (1903-1912), where he strove in vain to maintain friendly relations between Germany and the United Kingdom, and was recalled because "he told the truth to his government" (Austen Chamberlain); and ambassador in Constantinople (1915-1916), from which he was recalled for reporting Turkish responsibility for the Armenian massacres
