Notes

Jenny Coughlin was born in Liverpool but currently lives in St Helens. She was hit in the eye with a badminton racquet when she was 15 and suffered detached retinas. She swam at national level before the accident and then got back into training and competed in Sydney and Beijing. She described how proud she felt taking part but said the atmosphere itself was indescribable. She is currently doing a teacher training course and hopes to be selected for the London 2012 Paralympic Games. Wearing the track suit she wore at the Beijing Paralympics.
