About this work

Description

King James II (?), three-quarter length facing front, wearing a silk cloak over all'antica armour, with the George hanging from the sash, the cloak fastened by a cameo at his left shoulder. His right hand rests on his hip, his left points to something on the right side (trimmed from the impression catalogued). Behind, left, a palace, roses, a balustrade; right, a draped column. The armour is similar to that worn by King James II in the bronze statue in Trafalgar Square
