About this work
Description
Elder son of King James VI of Scotland and I of England. Identified as Henry Frederick by a contributor to Art history news (blog of Bendor Grosvenor), 23 April 2012 ('The lost prince found'), by comparison with the double portrait including him by Robert Peake in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and the variant version in the Royal Collection of the United Kingdom. Possibly altered into a supposed portrait of William Harvey by the later addition of the latter's name.
