About this work

Description

Aleks Krovotski talks about the idea of nostalgia especially in the media, in the form of remaking old movies, watching old movies and listening to old music. Aleks Krovotski talks about how nostalgia takes people back to their youth. Professor Svetlana Boym defines nostalgia as a longing for a home that no longer exists; it was initially considered a disease in the early modern era. Aleks Krovotski talks to air Steward Ben Sansum who lives in a 1940s designed home. Wells Riley is an interactive product designer and uses the nostalgia factor to create a positive emotive response or a familiarity to a product. Donovan Sung talks about the nostalgic use of Spotify, for example, searching for old songs rather than looking for the latest music. Bill Benneyan manager of Action Park, talks about how the nostalgia of adventure appealed to the collective memory and caused the reopening of the park. Aleks Krovotski looks at how far nostalgia is holding us back in the past and keeping us from experiencing the present.
