Notebook including case histories

Notebook compiled by Storrs mainly comprising case histories from his own practice at Doncaster from 1824, although including some earlier entries relating to his time as a student at Guy's Hospital, entered retrospectively. The cases are not in strict chronological order, and the earliest ones in particular were evidently entered some months after the event: there is an ownership inscription dated 5 November 1825 (f.1) but the earliest Doncaster case would appear to be that of William Jackson on 13 September 1824 (f.22). The cases cover a predictable range of diseases, accidents and medical consultations and interventions, from fevers and venereal disease, through dislocations and fractures, to the complications of pregnancy. Included is the record of the post-mortem on the Storrs's first child, A.T.S. [Alice Townsend Storrs, born 26 December 1827], although it is not clear whether this was performed by Storrs himself or by a colleague (f.67v.). There is a prescription for 'Mrs Townshend' [presumably Storrs's mother-in-law Anne Townsend], dated 20 April 1831, signed by JHB [perhaps John Branson, an established surgeon of Doncaster] inserted loose.
