Ovid, Metamorphoses VII.279-293. Medea, wife of Jason, was considered to be a witch. Medea is here depicted rejuvenating Jason's aged father Aeson by draining his blood, so that she could replace it with a special herbal brew of her own. Aeson lies within a witches circle, naked, while Medea stands over him alongside a steaming cauldron with two winged demon figures above
