About this work

Description

Measles encephalitis This high power view of a degenerate white matter lesion in the brain is from a 6-year-old HIV-positive child with measles encephalitis. Most of the cells seen (glial cells) have nuclei with homogenous pink inclusions, which displace the chromatin to the side. The inclusions are closely packed measles virions. H&E stain. Image W0043151 shows the gross pathology.
