About this work

Description

David Alton, Liberal MP for Liverpool Mossley Hill, introduced another Abortion Amendment Bill in late 1987. This Bill wanted to reduce the time limit a woman could procure an abortion down to 18 weeks from 28 weeks. This Bill also coincided with the twentieth anniversary of the passing of the Abortion Act in 1967.

NAC formed the Fight the Alton Bill or FAB in response, and they were again successful in gaining enough support so the Bill did not pass after its third reading. The documents in this campaign cover; minutes from meetings organising events, press releases, press cuttings, leaflets, and substantial amount from other organisations who supported the FAB campaign: LARC, ALRA and Co-ord.
