Project description:This project formed part of the Manchester Science Festival in October 2007. It explored three themes: • Visualising the Face of Manchester Combining photographs of 500 people in the Greater Manchester area with data about their age and interests, then using computer averaging software composite faces will be produced that will be displayed both as static portraits and dynamic web-based video clips. • Faces, Freedom and Future A series of five lunchtime events during the festival on topics including “Genes and Faces”, “Faceprints - Biometrics, privacy and security”, “Having the Perfect Face – Will genetics and stem cells be future replacements for cosmetic surgery?” • Facing up to addiction Do genes cause addictive behaviour?
