Lettering

Swimming-bath of the training-ship Indefatigable at Liverpool Text on verso mentions various opera and concert performances which provide clue to date: Christine Nilsson singing Margarita in "Faust" (in Italian), which she did at the opening night of the Metropolitan Opera in New York in 1883 (she had earleir sung the role in New York in the 1870s); piano recitals by Annette Essipoff, who lived from 1851 to 1914; Konrad Behrend Behrens singing Plumkett in "Marta"(he played the role in the 1870s and 1880s). Lord Alfred Paget is also mentioned: he died i 1888
