About this work

Description

Edward Franklin Bland, cardiologist at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, Mass. He worked with Sir Thomas Lewis in London in 1931. He co-described the Bland White Garland syndrome of anomalous left coronary artery. He invented a venous shunt for surgial alleviation of mitral stenosis (JAMA 1949, 140: 1259-1265. He was Chief of Cardiology at Massachusetts General Hospital from 1949 to 1964
