About this work
Description
Includes correspondence, minutes, and papers of MCANW Nurses' Working Party, as well as press cuttings and articles, and a file concerning the arrest of a nurse following a nuclear protest. The Nurses' Working Party was chaired by Nicola Woodward. In 1985, around 500 of MCANW's 3,500 members were reported to be nurses. The Nurses' group arranged a bus tour using one of the MCANW campaign buses as part of the Treatment not Trident campaign. They also reviewed civil defence contingency plans, working to raise awareness of the challenges facing the nursing profession in the event of a nuclear explosion.
