(This was perhaps written at a later date by the original scribe.) The title-page, and the Index, following p. 187 are by a different and later 18th cent. hand, and the Index is signed F. A. D. The date 1740 is found on p. 181.

Biographical note

Richard Stoughton [fl. c. 1725] was a Chemist of London, who had entered Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge in 1698. He is mentioned in C. J. S. Thompson's Quacks of old London, 1928, pp. 100-102.
