About this work

Description

A general introduction to the pathological relations between high blood cholesterol levels and heart disease, intended primarily for lay audiences but nonetheless serious and informative in its approach. Explains the differences between familial hypercholesterolaemia and familial combined hyperlipidaemia, the role of blood cholesterol screening, electrocardiograms, angioplasty and heart bypass operations, as well as emphasizing the importance of exercise and dietary modifications in conjunction with drug therapy, but too diffusely to be really effective as health education.
