Description
Cryptococcosis
This high power view of the lung at autopsy is from the same case as shown in image W0047329. It shows extensive cryptococcal pneumonia. Abundant yeasts of Cryptococcus neoformans, with a central nucleus and a pale-staining mucoid capsule, are visible in the alveoli. Note the lack of associated inflammation. H&E stain.
