Description

Wall relief of a male and female figure bearing offerings of wood and wine. Some scholars have interpreted the pendulous male breast as an 'axillary growth' or 'tumour'. However, the depiction of large pendulous breasts in males was used to denote veneration in achieving the wisdom of old age and are not pathological. Wall relief from the temple at Dendara, Northern Upper Egypt. Dendara was the capital of the 6th nome of Upper Egypt and a town of some importance. The temple complex dates from the period between Dynasty XXX (380-343 BCE) and the roman Period (CE 30-395). Photograph take 1989.
