About this work
Description
The Retreat devised this questionnaire in 1947 with the aim of investigating what the Retreat could do to improve staff welfare, and to gain insights that would assist in the recruitment of nurses. Questionnaire forms were sent out to 50 Retreat nurses, and 14 completed the replies (these were done anonymously). The Retreat subsequently carried out improvements in working conditions where this could be done. The Questionnaire was discussed in the Retreat’s Annual Report of the Physician Superintendent, 1947 (RET 1/2/17) There are two copies of the typescript summary of replies in the file: one copy has added information on the first page about the types of nurses who filled the form in. The file also has within it a typescript report of the Retreat Committee, September 1947, on the Preliminary Training School and Nurses’ Training at the Retreat (4pp)
