Description

Decorations in this book are based on ancient Mesopotamian designs. Colour image of lay tablet - Sumerian epic of mythical account of beginnings of medicine, with text. Insert: pamphlet on "Directions for using Wellcome brand Sera".

Physical description

1 copy Wallet style, bound in Morocco leather with wallet to hold a pen. Endpapers printed in light brown with cream printed unicorns. Text block machine made paper, text printed in black, paper pre lined with blue and brown printing ink. The Diary has all three edges in red. Embossed blind on spine '1923' and embossed unicorn on front, embossed 'Wellcome's Medical Dairy 1923' on flap. There is a blue tape bookmark printed ''WELLCOME' CHEMICALS PAGE AT END. LIST PAGE X AT END' printed in dark blue. The tape has an advert attached to it, in the form of a paper; tube of 'Tabloid' 'Mixed Gland, No 1' on one side and 'Tabloid' Mixed Gland No 2 on the other; below-' 'Always write 'Tabloid' in full'.
