About this work

Description

Tobit and Anna were the parents of Tobias. Tobit was reduced to poverty by God as a test and during this time Anna supported him with her spinning wheel. Tobias is depicted in this story at the moment when he is saving the sight of his father with the help of the Archangel Raphael. Raphael stands on the left holding a big fish from which the eye ointment used by Tobias was extracted. During the 17th century, the story was considered to be an example of piety in adversity
