Biographical note
John Gilmour was a patient at Crichton Royal Institution from 1905 to 1913, he was also a contributor to the hospital magazine, the New Moon. Nine examples of his artwork were retained by either Dr J. Rutherford or Dr C. C. Easterbrook and was found in the back of C. R. I. Scrapbook, DGH1/6/17/1 which was compiled by Dr C. C. Easterbrook.
Morag Williams was Dumfries and Galloway Health Board Archivist from 1983 to 2008 and also Crichton Royal Museum Curator from 1989 to 2004.
