    The object of tins communication is, in the first place, to ;ive an account of tubercular fever; and, in the second, to Ihow its relation to enteric fever. The subject will necessarily involve a brief consideration of the nature of both diseases. A fair history of the origin and progress of tubercular fever ivill be obtained from the thirteen cases detailed in the follow- ing pages. I have found them scattered through the uote- ))ooks referring to patients admitted under my care into the .liondon Fever Hospital. Excepting one, which is clear enough, L have selected only those of which I could give 'ii complete iccount, and these are necessarily fatal cases. In each case a ilear and positive diagnosis was made during the life of the ))atient, and the cases were respectively designated tuber- ;;ular pneumonia,^^ tubercular meningitis, and enteric ' ever,'^ with or without pneumonia. I have applied the term -ubercular fever to them collectively, instead of acute tuber- :3ulosis, inasmuch as this latter term implies a more chronic iind less febrile condition than is exemplified in the following )3ases. With regard to the second topic, the relation of tubercular t\nd enteric fevers, the observations I have to make are I believe new, unfamiliar, and, therefore, discordant to received opinions frespecting the nature of the latter disease.
