About this work

Description

Confocal micrograph of a primary human fibroblast cell grown in culture stained for actin - a highly abundant protein that makes up the cytoskeleton of cells (blue). The mitochondria - the energy producing region of the cell is shown in green. Fibroblasts are specialised cells responsible for producing the extracellular matrix and in the production of collagen. They are also involved in wound healing.
