About this work

Description

Shows the bright yellow hanging flower clusters which produce poisonous seeds. These contain cytisine which has a similar effect to strychnine. The leaves have a similar effect to tobacco and have been used to treat nicotine addiction. They also have a purgative action. Laburnum wood is used in carpentry.
