1-2 Documents relating to business transactions between Ruberto Altoviti and the Florentine physician Giovanni Chellini da San Miniato, c.1433.

3-4 List of merchandise and information to be acquired in Milan and Geneva by Francesco di Bettino on behalf of Cosimo, son of Giovanni Chellini da San Miniato, Oct 1450.

5. 'Apposita tabula intentionum, sequitur tabulas subiungentes renum, quibus intentiones hoc modo finem consequuntur optatum ...'. List of simples for kidney complaints, 15th century.

6-7 Bills for medicines supplied to Piero Buonaccorsi, from the Angelo Raffaele pharmacy [? Florence], 20 May 1528 and 3 December 1531.

8. Bill for medicines supplied to Conte Giovanni Gabuzio, of Montalboddo, 10 November 1520. With a note of payment by his wife Geronima, 11 December 1520.

9. 'Reverendus ac magnificus vir Franciscus Gabutius nobilissimus ac moregeratissimus vir, aetatis, sicut ego audio primi senii agit Interim bene vale.' Medical consilium for Francesco Gabuzio, of Montalboddo. Signed at the end in another hand 'Ego Franciscus Frizimelliga medicus patavus ita consulabam' [Francesco Frigimelica (1491-1559), professor of medicine at Padua], c. 1520-1559.

Part of a miscellany purchased from Bruscoli, Florence, 1934.

Related material

Items 1-4 are related to the diaries of Giovanni Chellini, purchased by Henry Wellcome in 1932-34 but apparently not exported from Italy. Most or all are now in the Istituto di Storia Economica, Università Bocconi, Milan. Items 8-9 are related to MS. 566, part of the same miscellany, in which Conte Gabuzio is frequently mentioned.
